Are you craving some time with the girls? Dori and Val will be live on the forum on 9-9 at 9 am (Pacific Time). Don't miss this opportunity to talk with your favorite podcast hosts, Dori and Val. Ok -Rob, Jillicious and Intern Rachel might be there too!

Our Interview with HipJim from Interface Corporation

Want to find out more about Interface Corporations Sustainability Practices? Take a listen to fellow Podcaster, Hipster and all-around great guy, Doug Pilgrim and his show Sustainable Business Practices/ The Interface Conversations found at http://www.sbpradio.com.

HipJim sent us some links and info to give us more insight into Interface as well as to expand our knowledge. Here they are mostly in his words (they were too good for us not to use)

http://www.interfaceglobal.com - The Interface home page. Note the "Mission Zero" promise in the lower left. We know of no other multinational corporation to state such a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal). The prime design element is the voice box. We are using this to demonstrate that we need new, authentic conversations about what really matters. Our message is not about telling the world we know the answer. It's about our goal to build a new dialogue.

http://www.interfacesustainability.com - Our "living" sustainability report on the web.

http://www.InterfaceFLOR.com -our residential carpet brand. First and foremost, it's about the joy of design. These are the guys that have the R&R (return and recycle) program we mentioned and products that contain PLA and kenaf. The new catalogue has a funny spread about the new installation method that prohibits the need for glues, tack strips and those smelly, weird guys you don't know coming into your home. We make no promises about the ones you know. Their products are more expensive than the cheap wall to wall carpet you buy, but not more than people spend on area rugs. The best part is you can design the rug yourself on- line, it arrives on your doorstep by UPS, you can pick up a square and clean it when it gets stained, and you can ship it back to us for free when you're done. We'll reuse or recycle it and promise the carpet won't go to the landfill. http://www.florcatalogue.com/

"The Corporation" -here is the website to this chilling documentary about the founding of the modern corporate entity and its current behavior. We don't necessary believe and support all the positions taken by the film, but use it often to begin conversations with suppliers and customers about how business should be conducted. If anything, you could say that our mission is to demonstrate an alternative business model to that depicted in the film. http://www.thecorporation.com/ (DNV - we will be watching it this week -it just arrived in Val's mailbox)

Powering factories with landfill gas -Here is a link to a CNN story done on our landfill gas project. Yep, we use methane than comes out of landfills to power our factory to make carpet. And of course, the electricity is 100% renewable through renewable energy credits, too.

Prius Contest -"The Big Squeeze" -Here's the article about Ray Anderson and me competing on fuel mileage. (DNV - Read this -its hilarious!)
